On June 2nd, 2018, the Arcosanti Community Council is proud to welcome back World Recognized musician Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya and Ayan Banerjee for an incredible evening of Classical Indian music that touches the inner soul!
Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya is a master of the Santoor, a 100-stringed ancient instrument similar to the hammered dulcimer. Bhattacharya comes from a musical family and studied with internationally known musician Ravi Shankar. He recorded with George Harrison on the world renowned album "Chants of India" and has performed around the globe, including previous appearances at Arcosanti and Cosanti in Arizona. Bhattacharya will be accompanied by tabla player Ayan Banerjee. The tabla is a set of traditional hand drums played with fingers and palms. Bhattacharya will also introduce a short performance by ten year old Jyotishman Nath, a student of the rare rabab instrument, to highlight his GENEX organization which promotes young musical talents from around the world.
For an additional $12 you can join us in the Arcosanti Cafe for a special Indian dinner. The menu includes Tandoori Chicken, Basmati Rice, Dal, Vegetables in cumin scented tomato gravy, yogurt raita, and Rice pudding for dessert. In addition to dinner and the performance, a Classical Indian Music Workshop will be offered for which participants may bring their own instruments. The cost for the workshop is $10.  
Funds raised through this event will go towards the purchace of new chairs for future performances at Arcosanti.

Ticket for the event are  $30 for the Performance only ($20 for Students). Arcosanti is located 65 miles north of Phoenix. Take exit 262 off I-17 and follow the signs for Arcosanti. Maps and other information are available at: www.arcosanti.org
Arcosanti, an urban laboratory under construction in the high desert of central Arizona, seeks to reduce humankind’s ecological impact on the earth.  Visitor tours are available every day (except major holidays) on the hour from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The Visitor’s Center is open from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
